First of all, what is Zinc, and what is the difference between nano, and non- nano?

 

Zinc Oxide is a powered mineral that sits on top of the skin. It is effective against UVA, UVB and even UVC rays.  A nano particle will enter the blood stream but a non-nano will not, for that reason, non-nano is safer. Chemical sunscreens will enter the bloodstream, and that is why DNA altering ingredients like oxybenzone have gotten such a bad name, and really aren’t good for you. 

 

Why is Non-Nano Zinc Oxide such an effective sunblock?

 

All of our Zinc Products, including our Zinc Soap, are made with non-nano Zinc Oxide. Because we use non-nano, it sits on the top of your skin where it needs to be, effectively providing a layer of armor against damaging UV rays. Mineral sunscreens are different than other sunscreens on the market today. Our products do not contain toxic ingredients that soak into your skin and provide ‘water proofing’.  Because Zinc Oxide does sit on top of your skin and reflect the sun’s rays, you will have to reapply after swimming, or if you’re doing an activity that you’re going to be sweating.

 

Will I look white after applying your Zinc products?

 

If you have ever purchased a zinc oxide cream, you will know that when applied to your skin it goes on as a thick, white paste.  You WILL look white at first, however, our recipes are formulated to melt when they hit your skin and rub in beautifully.  Just keep rubbing and it will dissolve onto your skin beautifully.  After heading into the sun, the heat will also help the Zinc melt onto your skin leaving it feeling extremely nourished with a very faint white tint.  This is especially handy when applying to children’s skin because you are able to see exactly where the skin is covered by sunscreen and where you need to apply more!

 

What is the difference between the Zinc Cream and the Zinc Lip Block?

 

Our zinc cream is made using luxurious emulsified oils to leave your skin feeling super hydrated but does not have any ‘water proofing’ ingredients added.  Our Zinc Lip balm is made using a blend of butters and oils mixed with local beeswax.  The beeswax is used as a safe waterproofing ingredient to keep you covered for just a bit longer while sipping those summer drinks!
